En un post anterior hablamos sobre un curso que brinda la MIT para aprender a programar en la PS3 (puedes revisar este curso en http://cag.csail.mit.edu/ps3/index.shtml).
Siguiendo con información para programar en la Playstation 3, aquí puedes encontrar una presentación desarrollada por la empresa de juegos Imsomniac para el GDC 2008. La presentación trata sobre las mejores prácticas para programar utilizando las SPU's del chip Cell.
Se tratan temas como:
- Entendiendo la programación de las SPU's.
- Diseñando sistemas para las SPU's.
- Consejos para optimización de SPU's.
- Rompiendo la barrera de los 256K.
- Mirando al futuro.
Se compara la programación en un CPU normal vs la programación en SPU's y se declara que, al contrario de lo que muchos piensan, programar en la PS3 no es díficil, sólo necesita tener claros algunos conceptos y ser organizado en su aplicación.
Además, en la página http://www.insomniacgames.com/tech/techpage.php de Imsomniac se publican varios consejos para la programación de videojuegos, incluyendo varios otros sobre PS3 y sus SPU's, como: Combined SPU Physics y SPU Shaders.
